Therapies Offered

Shiatsu Massage:  Shiatsu is the Japanese system of Acupressure. It is based on Chinese medical tradition dating back over 5,000 years. Related in theory to acupuncture, Shiatsu is a non-invasive treatment in which the therapists use their hands, fingers, and arms to stimulate key points along internal energy channels known as meridians. This gentle, full-body treatment aids in correcting internal energy imbalances to promote deep relaxation, well-being, and natural healing. Treatments, which last approximately one hour, can be given through loose-fitting, light-weight clothing.

Therapeutic Touch:  Therapeutic Touch is a modern day modality based on the ancient practice of ”laying-on-of-hands”. Therapeutic Touch is currently being taught in graduate nursing programs and used both in and out of the nursing community. This gentle, non-invasive therapy uses the energy interaction between people to facilitate healing. It has proven effective in boosting the body’s own healing powers, the relief of pain, and in treating stress related conditions.

Reiki: The name Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy. It is a form of energy treatment which is rapidly gaining acceptance in major hospitals, especially among the nursing community. It is a gentle, hands-on, whole body treatment which relieves physical and emotional blockages, reducing stress and pain. It is performed over light-weight clothing. The recipient may be lying on a table or sitting in a chair. Reiki is safe for all, regardless of physical condition.

Swedish Massage:  A massage technique which uses gliding stokes on the muscles and connective tissue to relieve tension, ease pain, and improve flexibility.

Integrative Massage:  Using oils or creams, therapeutic massage works directly on the muscles, ligaments and connective tissue to soothe tight, sore muscles, relieve tension and pain while stimulating the circulatory and lymphatic systems. The practitioners at HealthBridge provide a variety of integrative techniques including Swedish, Deep Muscle and Neuromuscular. The benefits of massage also include freedom of movement, increased flow of energy, stress reduction, and a greater sense of well-being.

Foot Reflexology:  The origin of this treatment modality is known to go back at least to ancient Egypt, as evidenced by depictions found in what is known to be a physician’s tomb. Reflexology is based on the theory that there are reflex zones on the feet and hands, which when stimulated effect the various glands, organs, and structures of the body. Reflexology improves circulation, unblocks nerve impulses and reduces tension.

Energy Balancing Techniques:  Techniques that work with energetic flows throughout the body.  Depending on the training of the practitioner, this could mean the meridian system, chakras, and/or nadis.  Many of our therapists incorporate other techniques with energetic balancing such as using Crystals, Sound, Color, Breathwork, Essential Oils, Flower Essences, and Visualization.
